“Neebi” is an Okinawan dialect indicating a sand layer composed of fine grains, and neevi soil taken from nibi has been used as a raw material for moisturizing the main hall until now. Also, the solid part where Neebi has solidified is called “Neevi nupni (Neebi's bone = fine-grained sandstone),” and is used as the foundation stone etc. of the main hall.
This time, we will reuse the foundation stone that supported the pillars of the main hall of Shurijo Castle, which was burnt down due to the previous fire, and produce “nibbi (fine-grained sandstone) powder” used as a raw material for lacquer coating in the restoration of the main hall of Shurijo Castle etc. that will be carried out from now on. Participation prizes will be presented to volunteer participants.
Intended audience:4th graders and younger must be accompanied by a guardian; if only junior high school students and younger participate, parental consent is required
