To coincide with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Haebaru Kindergarten, we will look back on the history of “kindergartens” in Haebaru. It's called “kindergarten when you turn 5 years old” or “kindergarten next to elementary school”
The way kindergarten education is taken for granted in Okinawa is unique when viewed nationally. Okinawa's post-war history has a lot to do with that. I will introduce the history of “kindergartens” in Haebaru, Okinawa, from the post-war “community center kindergarten” era to the establishment of public kindergartens, branch schools associated with population growth, and the future of early childhood education.
