Three omnibus video works “MARGINALIA” using the Okinawan monorail, train window views from Tokyo and Osaka trains, and moonscapes seen from Okinawa by artist Tomoko Nema are screened on the huge wall of the common lobby, and an installation work (drawing lines in the sky of the lobby using 21 8-color neon tubes) corresponding to the video work is exhibited. By watching the video together with the installation, you can also enjoy the changes in the way you see it.
[Artist Profile]
Tomoko Nema: Born in Okinawa. Contemporary artist. Part-time lecturer at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts (painting/ceramics [glass]). Presented photographs, paintings, glass, and video works. Major exhibitions include the 2008 Contemporary Art Prospect “VOCA Exhibition” (Ueno Royal Museum of Art), the “Ryukyo” photo exhibition (gallery atos/Okinawa), and the 2012 “ART IS MY LIFE” (Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum).
