Assuming to study “the origin of Japanese people,” physical anthropology took remains from graves of Ryukyu royalty without permission, and linguistics that played a part in the assimilation policy by advocating the Japan-Ryukyu ancestry theory. A talk event commemorating the release of the book “The Imperialism of Learning - Modern Japan's Asian Perception from the Ryukyu Human Remains Problem,” which reinforces the worldview of imperial Japan and questions the responsibility of modern academics that confined Ryukyu, which was an independent nation, within the framework of “Okinawa.”
