The Yaeyama Islands are more than 400 km southwest of the main island of Okinawa. The islands scattered around the ocean, close to Taiwan, maintain a unique environment. At the “Red Dew (Cool) Workshop” launched by Iriomote Island's traditional performing arts successor Ishigaki Kinsei, which is one of them, and dyeing cloth with plant dyes such as red dew (cool) that naturally grows in the mountains, Fukugi, Akame Kashiwa, and island indigo (Indian indigo), etc. are spun yarn from Iriomote Island's traditional performing arts successor Ishigaki Akiko.
In this exhibition, photographs and postcards of photographer Nakahodo Nagaharu, who is impressed by the life of Mr. and Mrs. Ishigaki, who is impressed by the rich nature of Iriomote Island and continues to shoot, works and panels using the Basho paper “TSUTO” by Natsuko Saka, which uses a whole bottle of Basho paper, and works by Beniro Kobo are exhibited and sold. Like the word “kushabira” (joint) in Yaeyama, I will introduce works where you can feel the life of Iriomote Island where you can feel the life of Iriomote Island, where you can weave every day while connecting small ends and joining missing places.
