Currently, there are heated discussions about constitutional amendments. Public opinion surrounding the constitution is now fluctuating in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and social changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Should the Constitution be amended? Why is it being revised? How does that affect us? As constitutional revisions become a reality after the recent election for members of the House of Councilors, it is important for each of us to understand and discuss the Constitution. At this constitutional study session, we will take matters at the center of constitutional reform discussions, and our lawyers will give constitutional lectures on the purpose of the revision, the necessity of constitutional reform to achieve that purpose (what cannot be achieved with the current constitution), problems with constitutional reform, etc. “It wasn't supposed to happen” is not enough — constitutional reform is an issue directly linked to our choice of way of life. We will take this opportunity to think together about the Constitution.
