Lecturer: Sakihara Kyoko (in charge of history)

Family records from the Ryukyu Kingdom period describe the origin and work history of people born into samurai (samurai) families, and most of them consist of two parts, “chronicles,” which describe the merits and work history of people described as “genealogy” showing the connection between ancestors and descendants. It is a valuable material where you can learn about historical matters during the Ryukyu Kingdom period and the way people lived. In this course, I will introduce the contents of the “Mukaisho Genealogy” of the Wau Keike family and the Uchima family that were donated to the museum last year, and I will also talk about the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom described in these.
