The military strengthening of the Nansei Islands is progressing rapidly, such as military exercises using civilian port facilities and shelter maintenance plans. Based on the “Japan-US Joint Operations Plan,” which uses the Nansei Islands as an attack base due to the Taiwan emergency, the Ministry of Defense plans to extend the range of missiles that reach China with a significant arms expansion budget and mass deployment to the Nansei Islands. The US military is also planning to deploy various missiles to the archipelago line. In order to cut off the road to the next war, people from Yonaguni, Ishigaki, Miyako, and Uruma cities that oppose the self-defense force and missile bases meet together, express their determination to protest and call for the cancellation of the “Japan-US Joint Operation” and “Okinawa's missile battlefield,” and exchange heated discussions on how to connect and act in the future.
Furthermore, the next day, 11/13 (Sun), a meeting will be held at the square in front of the prefectural office from 12:00.
Protest against the enforcement of the “Japan-US Joint Integration Exercise Keen Sword 23” and a rally calling for immediate cancellation
We cannot absolutely allow Japan-US joint integration exercises in preparation for war, which assumes Okinawa as a battlefield. Konishi Makoto, Tazato Chiyoki Yonaguni Town Council, Uchihara Hidesato Ishigaki City Council, Shimizu Hayako, Co-Representative of “Miyako Island Residents Who Don't Need a Missile Base”, and Hiroyuki Teruya, Co-Representative of the “Uruma City Island Gurumi Conference” will participate.
