Guide: Imamura Haruka (Freelance Writer) Demonstration: Miyagi Natsuko
A guided tour to visit a historic silversmithing workshop and learn about Jeepers (women's hairpin). The visitors are “goldsmiths (goldsmiths) Matayoshi,” who were silversmiths who were purveyors to the Ryukyu Kingdom and made jeepers, knotted rings, and tassel rings during the Ryukyu Kingdom period. On this tour, you can take a closer look at the precious jeepers owned by the workshop, kamisashi, tassel rings, knotted rings, etc. owned by the workshop, and you can also see how craftsmen strike silver up close. Freelance writer Imamura Haruka (Imamura Haruka) explains this history, origin, and how to make it. Also, since Kenjiro Matayoshi, the owner of the workshop, is elderly, his apprentice Natsuko Miyagi will be in charge of the demonstration and guidance on the day. An English interpreter will accompany you on 11/2 (Wednesday).
