The Gusuku period follows the prehistoric period in Okinawa prefecture, and corresponds to the Muromachi period from the end of the Heian period to the Muromachi period in mainland Japan. This period was a major milestone in the history of Okinawa Prefecture, such as the appearance of feudal lords called Azushi and the construction of a fortress called Gusuku. The special exhibition “Life in the Gusuku Era,” which will be held this time, will focus on the lives of ordinary people in the Gusuku era as seen from the ruins and introduce them.
