In Izumizaki, which is now crowded with many people, there used to be a kiln called “Wakuta Kiln,” which is the origin of Okinawan pottery. At the Wakuta kiln, production of tiles began, and pottery production began on the occasion of the visit of Korean potters in 1616. This can be said to be an event where the origin of the current “Yachimun” appeared in this area at the same time as the birth of Okinawan pottery that had never existed until now. In this exhibition, in addition to the history of the Wakuta kiln, attempts to restore the “Wakuta flat kiln” by modern potters will be introduced through actual materials of the Wakuta kiln. This year, which marks 340 years since the Tsuboya integration, there will be an exhibition looking at the Wakuta kiln, the origin of the current Yachimun.
