13:30 Symposium
In the basement of Shuri-jo Castle, which is currently being rebuilt, is a moat built as a command center for the Japanese army during the Battle of Okinawa. The bunker, called the 32nd Army Command Center, is said to have a total extension of 1,000 m from Josai Elementary School to Ryudai Old Girls' Dormitory, but the full extent has not been clarified yet. Two years after the fire of Shurijo Castle in October 2019, there is a growing demand for the preservation and release of the war ruins that lie underground. In the first place, a symposium was held to invite panelists to think about why the 32nd Army Command Huten should be preserved and released, and what kind of preservation and disclosure is required. The entertainer Ma-chan, who created “Comedy US Military Base”, also appears in the opening talk.
