Lecturer: Nobuaki Kanazawa (Mame Shobo (Okinawa-related books & craft items) shopkeeper)
Since the Ryukyu era, many gods and demons have been “right next to” Okinawa. People have naturally received invisible things. The ghost story transmitted there is scary and mysterious, creeps real but somewhere humorous.
Nobuaki Kanazawa, a bookstore specializing in Okinawan books in Kobe, explains Okinawan customs and the view of death and life in Okinawa, along with a recitation of the rare Okinawan book “scary story book”.
Instructor Profile
Nobuaki Kanazawa, owner of Okinawa specialty store “Mame Shobo (Okinawa-related books & craft items)” in Okamoto, Kobe
In addition to old books and new books related to Okinawa, it also deals with Okinawan folk tools and food. He became interested in Okinawa by listening to Okinawan folk songs when he was a child, and visited Okinawa frequently from the 80s to learn history, folklore, and food culture. We are transmitting Ryukyu and Okinawa culture from Kobe through Okinawan books and crafts.
